Academic Master Program of Applied Economics

Objective

The discipline is guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implements the Party's education policy, and carries out the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. The core of the program is ideological and belief education, and the aim is to cultivate high-level professionals who are fully developed in virtue, intelligence, physical fitness, beauty and labor and possess social responsibility and innovation spirit.

The Academic Master Program of Applied Economics aims to train high-level economics professionals who are fully developed in virtue, intelligence, physical fitness, beauty and labor and master economic theories and modern economic analysis methods. Students should possess critical thinking skills, innovation, and the ability to integrate interdisciplinary knowledge to "address China's issues, give China's voice, tell China's stories, and contribute China’s wisdom." Graduates can thus observe and analyze significant issues in both domestic and international economic theory and practice, can pursue doctoral studies and are prepared to contribute to national and local economic development and social progress as professionals.

Program Duration

The length of schooling for academic master program is three-year, with the longest learning period not exceeding five-year (including time for suspension).

Cultivation Method

The program implements a tutorial system, fully leveraging the role of Academic tutors in guiding graduate students. Academic tutors are responsible for helping students develop the personal curriculum plan, select courses, engage in coursework, participate in academic activities, choose thesis topics, conduct scientific research, and write academic papers. Academic tutors will conduct regular academic exchanges with students and strengthen political and ideological work. Besides, the school has established a graduate student advisory group composed of academic tutors and relevant personnel to conduct periodic assessments of the students.

Curriculum

Core courses include Advanced Macroeconomics, Advanced Microeconomics, Advanced Econometrics, and Research topics on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. Specialized courses are offered based on students' research interests, including academic seminars in specific areas. There are also specialized electives designed to broaden students' knowledge and academic horizons, and to enhance their ability to extend and integrate into related fields of economic management.
