Doctoral Program of Business Administration
Objective
The discipline is guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, fully implements the Party's education policy, and carries out the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education. The core of the program is ideological and belief education, and the aim is to cultivate high-level professionals who are fully developed in virtue, intelligence, physical fitness, beauty and labor and possess social responsibility and innovation spirit.
The Doctoral Program of Business Administration aims to cultivate academic-minded talent who are dedicated to scientific endeavors, possess high moral character and scientific literacy, maintain good health and mental equality, and enjoy comprehensive and profound theoretical knowledge. Students are expected to master scientific research methods, have an international perspective, and be committed to responding to national strategies, leading academic frontiers, and contributing to societal development. The program aims to develop research professionals and industry elites with independent research capabilities and strong team collaboration skills.
Research Direction
This program admits and cultivates students under the primary discipline without dividing them into specific research directions.
Key research directions at the School include:
1. Accounting: Students are required to possess theoretical foundation in economics, statistics, management, accounting, and comprehensive professional knowledge. They should be proficient in a foreign language and be familiar with domestic and international developments in accounting. The program aims to develop advanced professionals in accounting, auditing, and financial management who will conduct pioneering work in teaching and research positions at universities and research institutions, thereby making significant contributions to the development of China's modern market economy.
2. Business Management (including Entrepreneurship and Innovation): Students are required to master a solid and broad theoretical foundation in their field, along with in-depth knowledge of management, economics, behavioral sciences, and management research methods. They should know international academic trends related to the field well and possess the ability to conduct independent scientific research. The aim is to cultivate advanced research and teaching professionals who can actively contribute to the development of China's socialist market economy and achieve innovative results in business management.
3. Finance and Investment Management: Students should have an international perspective and top-level research capabilities, being able to make original and unique academic contributions in areas such as financial analysis, corporate valuation, corporate governance, corporate investment and financing, mergers and acquisitions, and digital finance. Graduates are expected to become senior professionals in financial management and investment, capable of undertaking work in scientific research, university teaching, and financial institutions and enterprises.
4.Marketing: Students are required to develop a thorough and deep understanding of their field, including detailed and specialized knowledge of management, marketing, and research methods. They should know international academic trends related to the field and possess the ability to conduct independent scientific research. The aim is to develop advanced research and teaching professionals who can make innovative contributions to the field of marketing.
Program Duration
Regular doctoral program: The basic length of schooling is four-year, with the longest learning period not exceeding seven-year (including time for suspension).
Successive postgraduate and doctoral program: The basic length of schooling is five-year, with 2 years for the master's phase and 3 years for the doctoral phase. The total length is within 8 years (including time for suspension).
Bachelor-straight-to-doctorate program: The basic length of schooling is 5 years, with the longest learning period not exceeding eight-year (including time for suspension).
Cultivation Method
The program implements a tutorial system, fully leveraging the role of academic tutors in guiding graduate students. Academic tutors are responsible for helping students develop the personal curriculum plan, select courses, engage in coursework, participate in academic activities, choose thesis topics, conduct scientific research, and write academic papers. Academic tutors will conduct regular academic exchanges with students and strengthen political and ideological work. Besides, the school has established a graduate student advisory group composed of academic tutors and relevant personnel to conduct periodic assessments of the students.
Curriculum
Fundamental and required specialized courses include Frontiers in Management Theory, Advanced Management Research Methods, Advanced Microeconomics, and Advanced Econometrics. Specialized courses will offer academic seminars in corresponding fields. Specialized elective courses include Cutting-Edge Research in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Big Data and Business Analytics, and Empirical Research in Accounting, intending to broaden students' knowledge and disciplinary scope and enhance their ability to integrate into related areas of economic management.
